2017 Gala Concert
With our major gala concert for the year, the ensembles from the Newcastle Youth Orchestra will present a program of some of the greatest symphonic works for symphony orchestra and wind orchestra.
The featured soloist is Kathryn Dries in Mahler's Songs of a Wayfarer. Other works will include Schubert's Symphony No. 8 "The Unfinished" and As We Forgive by Ryan Nowlin

Outdoor Concert Event in Civic Park
Free event
Join us for an outdoor concert event with Newcastle Youth Orchestra, Newcastle Youth Orchestra Kids, Newcastle Wind Orchestra, Newcastle Conservatorium Choirs and special guest artists to celebrate the festive season in Civic Park.
Bring a picnic rug, a hamper or enjoy a feast from one of the food outlets in the park while we serenade you under the stars. Orchestra's take to the stage from 6pm.

Kids Classics: Josephine Wants to Dance
Newcastle Youth Orchestra joins with the Newcastle Writer's Festival in 2017, performing classic works by the greats and a new work by William Jeffery to bring to life the story of Josephine, a young Kangaroo, who wants to dance. Written and narrated by Australian author, Jackie French, this concert is bound to excite the youngest audiences to the most mature with its beautiful story and dynamic melodies.

Hyeseoung Kwon (soprano), Festival Choir, Hunter Singers, Waratah Chorale, Quintus, Counterpoint, Newcastle Youth Orchestra, Newcastle Strings, Kim Sutherland OAM (conductor)
This year, Newcastle Youth Orchestra will perform for the first time at the Newcastle Music Festival. The Festival Chorus joins internationally-acclaimed soprano Hyeseoung Kwon and some of Newcastle’s best-loved choirs in a performance that includes John Rutter’s beautiful Requiem and Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer.
